This is completely mind-expanding! This book is mostly speculation, but solidly grounded in the unbelievable feats modern science is already capable of。 Contained in here are (potentially) humans with several square meters of foldable skin basking in the sun with CRISPR-inserted algal genes that let them photosynthesize, spaceships with light sails traveling to star systems parsecs away, vacations on the shores of liquid methane lakes on Titan, and settled earth-like worlds in the TRAPPIST star This is completely mind-expanding! But importantly(Mason claims), inevitable。 If life has to survive into the far future (~millions of years)。 An ethicist’s rebuttal to this work might make very interesting reading。 。。。more

This book was like old Asimov stories wrapped in the latest technology; quite a wild ride, but also with lots of great science。

Dwee Andrea Nugraha

The stories of the science in the book are first-hand and quite fun。 I enjoyed this book。

Walter Obrayo

This reminds me ideas in Seven Eves, but with much more technical detail。 I like the book a lot。

Tariq Ahmad Khan

My Mom and Dad both loved this book and gave it to me, and I see why! Even though some things are odd (like the bathtub full of yogurt), the book is inspiring。

Santosh Chatela

I loved it! The figures were also quite nice。 A complex, but fun, read。

Md Jahirul

What a set of ideas! Very controversial, but also very interesting。

Siva Gowtham

The re-awaking of our genetic past was a cool idea, and the book was fun to read。

Dk Singh

Ecosystems are unique, and Mason argues we need to preserve them。 I agree 100%

Rao Shoaib

The last chapter was a bit sad, with the end of the universe, but that was the whole point! Mason wants us to care, and I care more now than ever about our future。

I haven't quite seen a book like this before, and the visuals are captivating。 He might have some dreams that won't become real, but it was a fun ride nonetheless。 I haven't quite seen a book like this before, and the visuals are captivating。 He might have some dreams that won't become real, but it was a fun ride nonetheless。 。。。more

NASA and ESA have talked about this for a while, but this is the first book to take a deep dive。

No one can tell the future, but Mason makes a good stab at it in this book。 He is faculty at Cornell and it shows, given the details。 A very good read。

Sanjaya Mahavar

Perhaps the best person to write this book, Mason's plan is a nice dream of our likely future。 Perhaps the best person to write this book, Mason's plan is a nice dream of our likely future。 。。。more

Shiv Kumar

We passed this around our book club and it was a big hit!

Surender Kumar

Not all the science is immediately possible, but I think the plan that extends as far as 500 years is worth it。

Dominic Tanzillo

I found a new research mentor because of this book。

Kevin Gielen

Glad to be introduced to the idea of deontogenic ethics。 For me the first half of the book was the most interesting。。。the second half was a bit Science fiction-like。

Lutfur Rahaman

Really astounding book about a captivating vision of the worlds to come, even if perhaps too optimistic。

MD Shaptarshi

Cellular engineering and engineering species, with some human enhancementand extremophiles discussion。 Very interesting。
